Six locomotives were on show at this years Foxfield Steam Gala. Foxfield Colliery,the departure point for the freight trains to Dilhorne Park,was open to the public.The trains have to tackle Foxfield bank to reach Dilhorne Park which is the steepest standard guage incline in Britain.It's just over half a mile long and it's average gradient is 1 in 29 but has sections that go as steep as 1 in 19. The railway has a lottery funded project underway to create a mining heritage centre around the remaining Foxfield Colliery buildings.This project is in it's very early stages but the railway did a fantastic job of making sure there were excellent facilities available for people in the grounds....

Enterprise is the name of the cross-border inter-city train service between Dublin Connolly in the Republic of Ireland and Belfast Central in Northern Ireland and is jointly operated by Iarnród Éireann (IE) and Northern Ireland Railways (NIR). Each Push-pull trainset consists of eight coaches and a 201 Class locomotive. Originally, the 28 coaches were delivered as four sets of seven, but entered service as three sets of eight. Locomotive arrivals and departures are plentiful at Colombo Fort railway station between the 13th and 15th of December 2009. Plenty of clag and thrash with many classes of diesel locomotive represented. The station staff, railway police, soldiers and most of all the train crews were the most friendly I ever encountered and for that I hope they accept my deepest thanks... this is in a country still on high alert after the war yet they still found it possible to accomodate my enthusiasm for their railways, its a shame we can't be as outgoing here in the UK at times towards our enthusiasts.
